Soup bowls


Afghan girls wait patiently in the mid-day heat to collect a ration of soup, available every other day. The boys queued separately, as is the custom in this devoutly Muslim area.

Over 250,000 people were living in the Taliban run camp for internally displaced people. Forced to leave their homes because of conflict and famine, many families had sold or lost almost everything except for the most essential items.
